Their faces stare in some long lost forgotten affair, frozen in an amber stained age-old photograph where board and baton walls fall shadows tall the wind rustles trees and pine scent drifts. young men's dreams became old men's memories the tall grass grew and mountain flower fragrance flew. I come more and more to the conclusion that wilderness in America, or anywhere else, is the only thing left that is worth saving. If wilderness is outlawed, only outlaws can save wilderness. What draws us into the desert is the search for something intimate in the remote. Concrete is heavy; iron is hard - but the grass will prevail. Death is every man's final critic.
